What to Expect in a Somatic-Oriented Coaching Session

What to expect in a somatic body-oriented coaching session

Most coaching focuses on what you think. We analyze. We strategize. We make lists. But body-oriented coaching asks a different question:

What does your body already know that your brain is filtering out?

Because your body tracks everything—stress, safety, alignment, misalignment—long before your conscious mind catches up. That tightness in your chest when you think about a certain job offer? Information. That sense of relief when you imagine saying no? Also information. Body-oriented coaching doesn't bypass your brain. It just brings your body into the conversation so the decision you make is one your whole system can actually support.

How It Works

Every session has a rhythm:

We land. You arrive from your day. We don't jump straight into problem-solving. We take 10–15 minutes to settle. To notice what's here. To set an intention for the hour.

We inquire. We explore your topic—not just intellectually, but somatically. I might ask you to pause and notice what happens in your body when you talk about a certain person, decision, or pattern. We're gathering data your brain usually ignores.

We integrate. Before you leave, we name what shifted. What you noticed. What you're taking with you. So it's not just an interesting conversation—it's something you can actually use.

This isn't therapy. It's not breathwork. It's not life coaching with a body scan tacked on. It's a way of making decisions, navigating transitions, and understanding yourself that includes the full system—not just the part that thinks.
